If I really had all the space I needed, I ...Oh my. If I really had all the space I needed, I would have a milk cow. I can remember my Grandma's milk cow. And all of the fresh cream, mixed with blackberries in the summer. Wow, the thought makes my mouth water. I would love to have this book, as I also need to build a chicken coop. I'm just starting with animals and actually live inside city limits, albeit at the edges of town. But checked and I can have up to six chickens, just no roosters. Am also thinking of keeping rabbits, but haven't made a definite decision on that yet. Anyway, I can't afford to go buy books, so this would be a great boon to me. Even if I'm not chosen, I want to say thank you to you for this great giveaway, all of these books will be so useful to whomever wins. And learn how to take care of them naturally without pesticides. We have a lot of deer, so I'd like to learn how to work with that. I'm so glad I came out of my self-imposed blog exile in time for this!

There are so many skills I want to learn, but I'd like to learn how to save seeds, tap a maple tree, build a cistern, and spin wool. Those are on my bucket list, so hopefully my bucket will stand a little longer so I can check those off!Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05741321309330513890noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4030352031960855220.post-32600612671956456602012-10-06T12:00:14.969-04:002012-10-06T12:00:14.969-04:00You and I really are twins separated at birth! Right now our lawn goes right up, into, through and around both the raised beds, the field garden, the pumpkin patch and strawberries and blueberries and raspberries. If I could get that stone wall built, I would put some other kind of walkway material in the gardening area and not have so much to be kept mowed. Took a stone building class several years ago and really liked it. What say we both do it? Learn to build stone walls, I mean. It really is one of the coolest books for self-sufficiency, etc, She has everything in there.
Anyway, I guess what skills I'd like to learn are some minor building/fixing - ie with power tools. I have a husband who can do all that, but he never has time. I have time but don't know what I'm doing! I would like to get proficient with our new old Kubota, so I can use it to do whatever I need to around here. As a teenager, I ran a BIG tractor all summer long for a neighbor, so it shouldn't be that hard to get up to speed – if I can ever get the 10-year-old off of it!Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01550786937196525098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4030352031960855220.post-6622346486411300642012-10-06T10:35:06.870-04:002012-10-06T10:35:06.870-04:00I want to build a goat milking stand and shed...th...I want to build a goat milking stand and shed...then I want a goat! I guess right at the top would be hand milking. Have never been able to master the skill. I have arthritis in my thumbs and am forever trying to adapt the motion to put less stress on my thumb joints but can't quite get anything to work for me. So I end up with very sore thumbs every time I milk. I would really like to ...Oh, oh, pick ME, pick ME!!
I would really like to be able to butcher my own chickens. I know it's probably not that hard but it's something I'm reluctant to do without proper adult supervision. ;-)Candy C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07863818451136277378noreply@blogger.com
