Here is what is up for the offering:
Book #1
By one of my favorite non-fiction writers,
Joel Salatin. A wonderful book that reinforces
the importance of nurturing the "family" farm.
Book #2
(slightly different cover than mine)
A great resource for starting a small herd
of goaties.
Book #3
A classic from one of the foremost
proponents of farming and food. A great
read.
Book #4
If it wasn't for the six feet of rock and gravel
on my property, I would have done
this successfully.
So there you have them, from soup to nuts. To be entered in the giveaway, just leave a comment about which book you would like. This giveaway is open to US and Canada only, given the exorbitant postal costs of shipping any further. I will randomly choose (four) winners on Sunday and announce them on Monday. Cheers!
Oh, I've always loved Wendell Berry--how did I miss this volume?
ReplyDeleteSue - I heard about this particular volume on another blog and had to read it. He is such a wonderful writer!
DeleteI've always wanted to explore Lasagna gardening! Especially since we will be moving to AZ and starting from scratch with unknown soil conditions. Just wish I had half your energy!
ReplyDeleteSue O
Sue O - Just wait until you start - you'll find more energy than you knew you had. I think it is directly involved with loving what you are doing.
DeleteOh what a nice book collection you have I would love to take book #1 off your hands:) This is a wonderful give away Sue. That top book sounds like something where I will learn a thing or two:) Thank you. Hug B
ReplyDeleteButtons - I always learn something from Mr. Salatin! He has such a good sense of humor, too. xoxo
DeleteSalatin. This is a good idea. I probably have some books I could share as well.
ReplyDeleteTM - I think we should start a homesteaders reference round robin - or whatever it's called. There are so many great books out there.
DeleteWendell Berry is one of the most profound thinkers and beautiful writers I know. I'd love a copy of his book. Thanks for doing this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteJoy - Isn't he, though? I will put you in - thanks for commenting!
DeleteI have to go for Door (oops, I mean BOOK) #1, too. I haven't seen that one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice giveaway, Sweeze! We were going to sort through all our books last winter, but it didn't get done. Maybe this winter . . . although we've so darn many books that a winter's sorting might not be enough. Thanks again for the giveaway(s)!!
Mama Pea - You are in the hat for Book #1! If it wasn't for the library sale, I would have put it off. But you know how that goes - how many things we put off until winter - when we have ALL that time...
DeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteAll these books would make for a great giveaway. Thank you for sponsoring this wonderful giveaway. I would love to get my hands on Book 1, 3, or 4.
Sandy - You are in for all three!
DeleteI would love to win Family friendly farming and the bringing it to the table. This is a great giveaway for homesteaders. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMichelle - I will put you in the 'pot' for both. Good luck!
DeleteI heard Joel Salatin speak a year or so ago. Fascinating man and earth practices.
ReplyDeleteHow on earth can a person decide? You have great taste but then Your Pooches prove that! If you pick me.....just give me the one you think I would like the most. This giveaway is a great idea. I have some doubles of things that would look good in a home that could use them! Do take care all of you! Oh how is the hoof trimming going?
ReplyDeleteOoo, ooo, ooo, oooo!! I would LOVE to be entered in the drawing for the Joel Salatin book! I've only read one of his books "This Ain't Normal" and loved it! I passed it on to someone else in a giveaway (now that I think about it, I think I initially got it from YOU!!), because I believe books like that NEED to be read and the more people that read his stuff, the better!
ReplyDeleteI think you're on to a good idea, I've got a book I'm reading now (and will probably finish in a day or two, it's sooooo good) so I think I'll see your giveaway and raise you one! :)
Oh my goodness ... such a choice! I'd love book #1 by Joe Salatin. I love all gardening books and probably need a bigger bookshelf to put them all on, but more books never hurts anyone ... thanks for a wonderful giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYvette
NOW the comment box appears! (Just sent you an email.) I'd also love to win the Salatin book.
ReplyDeleteI'd love the Goat book, Bringing it to The Table :)
ReplyDeletePhooey, for some reason I never got this post in my feed. It showed me not a follower any more. Hm...anyway, I'm back to following. Not sure what happened.
ReplyDeleteOkay, is it only my blog messing up? I signed up again to follow and today you are off my blog list. I signed up again today to follow. Not sure what's going on.
