If you believe that, lady, I have some oceanfront property in Iowa to sell you.

Every week (or so it seems), I suffer through the endless customer service loop with my trash collecting service.  Although, the term trash 'collecting' seems to be an oxymoron, in this case.  And every week there is some excuse as to why my trash was not picked up on its scheduled date.  This morning I just opened the conversation with, "So, what's this week's excuse?"  Don't you think that the job description for customer service reps should require a sense of humor?  Every week, I call them, they give me assurances, they lie.

I was all het-up because I pay for this expensive service so that I can recycle more.  As I sat stewing on the endless phone loop, I had one of those head-slapping moments.  Oh, DUH!  If I didn't bring the stuff (packaging) into the house in the first place, I wouldn't have to recycle it.  I generate so little trash that, by a little brain power (little being the operative word), I bet it would only cost me $4 a month to dispose of what little I have.  I cancelled the service.

On Wednesday, while celebrating the arrival of Spring by shoveling an additional four inches of snow (and ice), I was too cranky to just suck it up and do a thorough job on the back deck.  So I couldn't close the gate to the chicken yard.  Who cares, I thought.  They are just as sick of the snow as I am and will be hanging close to the coop.  I had forgotten that we DO get sun every once in a while, and it melted a nice path from coop to deck.  When I got home, I was greeted by a new meaning to Poop Deck (for all you sailors - being a daughter of two ex-Navy parents).  The dogs were thrilled - Poop-cicles!

This weekend, Sage and Chickie go to the midwife's farm.  That's pretty darn exciting for all of us, although I will miss their little chunky selves every morning, Sage screaming that she's starving, Chickie bouncing sideways.  But I will have a chance to do some much-needed repairs and barn-cleaning.

I had decided to join a knitting group on Sunday evenings and then realized that this Sunday, my sister will be staying over on her way to spend a few days with our parents.  Then next Sunday is Easter.  Sigh.  And I am in need of some moral support, as I am determined to restart my cardigan.

On my last unscheduled day off, I reworked part of my office - forgetting, of course, that it is Bernie's little lair.  She had that "what fresh hell are you putting me through?" look all day, and it took a couple of days for her to realize that it was still a safe zone.  I have learned to do changes in stages and let her get used to each one before proceeding.  Dogs rule.

Next week, my little batch of replacement layer chicks will arrive.  Then it will officially be Spring.

Spring is when the 2 foot of snow in my yard disappears. That might be around June. I think!

But, at least I have managed to crawl out of hibernation. So good to read your humor again.

Enjoy the weekend and hope you're out of the line of the newest winter storm.........

So what you're saying is that I have to come sit with you on Sunday and knit....then we can do a drive by where we sit in the car in front of the library, and THEN we get you (and the cardigan) in the door the next week? Hahaha! And you wonder where Bernie gets it from.....

The rest of us who would be willing to hold your had while you're knitting on that cardigan (which might actually make the whole process much more difficult) simply cannot manage to physically get to you. But bless Melanie's heart, I think it would do both you busy, busy ladies good to sit for a couple of hours on Sunday, have a glass of wine, lovely conversation and knit. (Dang, that sounds good . . . wonder if I COULD make it??)

I LOVE my Knitting (well, crocheting for me) group! The gals are such a hoot! Wish we were closer, can you imagine how we'd all be together, a-knitting along? Wait a second. Who are we kidding, if we all got together there wouldn't be a darned purl finished between all the crazy-lady antics.

My dogs LOVE chicken poop. That stuff will take the paint off a car, but they lick it up like it's melted ice cream of something. What's up with that???

Uh, I think it is very possible that there will be a few more snow days yet so you can work on your sweater then! Wait, that doesnt make it any better does it.

Sue! My early morning kindred spirit is back! There was snow, once again, this morning - but it was pretty light. When did you get hit with all that snow?

Susan said...

Yes, that is what I'm saying...but we need to add the wine. Bernie? Me? Do you think? :)

Yes! You just come on down here and pull up a chair. I'll start a fire in the fireplace. That just does sound wonderful, doesn't it?

Carolyn, I doubt if we would complete one row of anything - but who would care? Both dogs try to snarf it down when my back is turned. Poor Scrappy can look so guilty it's a riot!

AAAiiiii! No more snow days!! I am hoping that I don't have to spend any more of my precious vacation time shoveling anything other than llama beans.

Knitting with others is a good thing. I hope you can make it to the Sunday knitting group. We're having a boomerang of winter this weekend. Weird.

It snowed "lake effect" Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. My gawd-we've been buried. Love it in December/January/February. But NOT March. But-with a cold frame in place thawing out my worms and the hopes of seeing some gardens in the first stages of gardening out in blogland life is good.
Missed you over the winter. Have a great weekend.
:)

Poop deck...ROTFL!!
A knitting group would be lovely. I should see if there is one around here.
We changed trash pickup companies because of poor service recently and now we have to HUSTLE to get the trash out on time!

I used to have a quilt group that met once a week to work on our projects and drink a couple of glasses of wine. I miss that group!

It was snowing and blowing the last 2 days off and on, record low of 20 something last night. Supposed to be up to 60 next week :) Typical unstable spring weather!

If you do it, I will too.... referring to my "sweater from hell" that I have been knitting since October 1st LOL!
