Himself.

It should come as no surprise that Pepper is not an easy subject to photograph.  As soon as he knows that you want him to do something - such as sit still for two seconds - he does the opposite.  I guess that is why I am so fond of dachshunds.  They remind me of me.

His sweater was finished early yesterday morning, just in time for the low teens of the morning.  As soon as I put it on him, he spent every waking hour trying to get it off.  I would come in the room to find him with the one-shoulder look, having managed to pry his flibber out of one sleeve.  In order to save the sweater, I only put it on him before bed - for the double-layer effect - and to go outside.  We seem to have reached détente.

I finally put him on the table so
he couldn't go far.

He is rather adorable, if I do say so.
It's his saving grace.

Lovey, on the other hand, loves her jacket and wears it all of the time.  I am hoping that she will feel the same about her soon-to-be sweater.

I have everyone's rapt attention - I am
standing next to the crunchy treat jar...

Darned cute weiner dog you got there, and Lovey looks especially content in her jacket.

I'm still giggling . . . Pepper is SMILING in both his pictures! Okay, so it looks like the kind of smile we all give when asked to "smile for the picture" but I think it's definitely a smile!

P.S. You're such a good doggie mama!

P.P.S. Now that Pepper knows what the view is like from table top, I can just picture him moving objects so he can regain his mountain top advantage!!

Before I read the caption on the last photo I got misty eyed over the adoring looks you were receiving. Bubble burst, although I am sure they speak highly of you. Have you read the Harry the Dirty Dog series? No Roses for Harry comes to mind.

Ha ha ha! We have one dog that loves to wear a coat. Cute!

Marielle - I know, isn't he the cutest? I have a hard time not toting him around. Plus he smells incredibly wonderful - most of the time.

Jaz - They may forget just about everything else, but never where the treat jar is.

Nancy - Yes, he is!

Carolyn - Lovey is a peach about everything. Pepper? Hmmmmm.

Mama Pea - It's his 'Elvis' look - he lost all his front teeth except for one, which is always catching on his lip. He's a hoot! Yes, I love my dogs - each and every one.

p.s. Pepper will hop onto a chair and then onto the table when my back is turned. One more thing I have to remember - push the chairs in! It's a challenge for my old brain...

Susan - If I try really hard, I can almost convince myself they love me for me, and not for my ownership of the treat jar. I haven't read that series, but I will look into it. I need some reading material for winter!

Kristina - Well, he's managed to get out of his sweater almost as fast as I put it on. I'm not sure how he does it, but he's determined.

Love it! I think my doxy would try and take it off too. Although with her getting up there in age, she might like one. Hmmmmmm

SFG - You'd think that Pepper would be thrilled with his warm, wool sweater. He's 13 and no spring chicken. But he takes it off and then stares at me and shivers.

Ahh cookie jar eyes! Stylin Pepper!

Maybe Pepper would be more enthusiastic if the yarn was bacon scented??
