Oooh, baby, it's cold outside!

Almost nothing of Lovey was visible this morning.

She was wondering what fresh hell this day would bring.  Her enthusiasm for winter wanes by the day.  Pepper was disguised as a brown fleece lump and Scrappy was pretending to sleep so he wouldn't have to go outside.  The Cruel Food Woman (that would be I) shooed them out into the frigid morning, where business was carried out at a brisk pace.  It feels like January.  The kitchen wasn't as warm as I would have liked it - mostly because the heat duct was blocked by a feline body.  So I roasted a butternut squash.  Nothing like adding heat and aroma at the same time.

Blankets are nice, but the cat has the right idea. Too bad for you & the dogs though.

Oh, those pooooor babies of yours! Don't you have a nice, fluffy feather bed they could burrow into? What kind of a mother are you?? ;o]

I know exactly how your cat feels. The house I grew up in had a big, ol' coal furnace in the basement with a register (top of a heating duct in the floor covered by a metal grate) in every room. I can remember the wonderful feeling of utter warmth standing on one of the registers after coming in from the cold. Smart cat you have there.

I hope you don't have a cat named Butternut squash :)

Carolyn - It's amazing how much space can be taken up by a skinny little cat.

Mama Pea - I know - I'm a rotten mother. I tried letting Pepper sleep under the down comforter with me, but it's like sleeping with a mole. My grandmother's house had a furnace in the basement with those wonderful grates. I remember visiting and spending the entire time standing on one, with the hot air traveling up my pant legs. We never had a house with a basement. My NEXT house will have a cellar!

I smiled when I read what you wrote: "spending the entire time standing on one, with the hot air traveling up my pant legs." The school I went too when I was young was run by nuns and the school was heated by those nice and big hot water radiators and often in winter us girls just loved to lean against one or stand very close to one to warm up and feel the nice heat but the nuns were always coming quickly to move us away. We were not allowed to feel heat anywhere....those were the days.

Jaz - I tell you, I could just kiss her little soft head every hour. Good thing she is tolerant.

Nancy - LOL! Isn't she?

I miss my Woodstove so much! Ralph was teasing me that when we move we need to get a King sized bed so the cat has her 1/2 of it. We can tell how cold it is by how close she sleeps to Ralph! It really must be an adjustment for dear Lovey! PS: please forgive the worse than normal typo's...sending from my new cell phone! Keep warm and stay safe!

Susan,
you got that right!
I know that it has been a long time and I'm sorry that I have been away from posting and reading others Blogs! But this cold weather has made it hard to get anything done out side!
I hope that you will come back to see the posts I have written over the past few days! Check out the post on "GARTH BROOKS"!
