New Month = New Socks

It may be April, but you could have fooled me.  I awoke to snow this morning.  The good news is, I am so numb to the eternal whiteness, that I didn't even blink.  Whatever.

There is, however, no whiteness involved in the latest socks on my needles!
Lunchtime knitting
The colorway is Poison Candy, an intoxicating combination of brightness by an indie dyer in Sweden - asfaltsflickan designs.  She has an Etsy shop, wonderful yarn, but you cannot be in a hurry.  The slow boat to/from China has nothing on the lumbering craft to/from Sweden!  She had me at the feminist mittens...

It was a busy weekend - my youngest sister came in from NYC and stayed with me Friday night through Saturday night.  As she is an amazing cook, the food was wonderful and it was fun all around.  She was covered in warm bodies as soon as she sat on any piece of furniture, and they were mighty sad when she had to leave.  Me, too.
Bundles of love.
Saturday was the nicest day in months - after a gloomy, cloudy start to the day, the sun came up and was gloriously warm.  She helped me clean out the duck coop (she shoveled, I schlepped - yay, City Girl!) we traded rugs in the living room - with LOTS of help by Lovey (insert sound of sarcasm dripping), did more cooking, played the music loud and danced.  We also watched a highly rated movie that was, well, it stunk.  No accounting for four and a half stars...

Sunday, of course, was Easter.  No surprises there.  As is usually the case, I was totally exhausted once the company left.  I am so used to being by myself (plus furry dependents) and all that noise and talking really takes the starch out of me.

Then it was Monday.  I am still trying to figure out how weekend time moves at twice the rate as week day time.  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Yes, the weekends go too fast lately. It's the only time I have help with bigger projects (hubby's help anyway). I am feeling the "starch" sucked out of me too. It is always a lot of craziness.

That picture of the dogs with your sister is priceless. The only thing that would have made it better would be if we could have seen her happy face, too!

I was afraid you were getting that snow that some of the rest of the northeast got. Bummer. At least (hope, hope, hope) it should melt soon.

You had Easter at your house? I was thinking you would be trekking to your folks' house for the day.

Your new sock yarn is intriguing . . . and might light your way through the house if you should happen to have them on when you made a trip from room to room some night after dark. Hee-hee!

This winter is really getting us down, I think. There is just no rest from the cold. Enough already!!!

I have to admit that I am the arm in the dog picture. I think they had one of those light bulb moments "oh. SHE's the one who feeds us! We ought to schmooz her up, too". We did have Easter in VT, but there's not much to say about it. Dad sucked the air and light out of everything, as usual. Sigh. Heehee - I hadn't thought of that, but you're right! I bet they glow in the dark!

I think, many years from now, in the time they will call the great thaw, rescue workers will break down your door only to be knocked back by thousands of socks.

I wonder what the preservation qualities of wool are...will I be a mummy adorned in bright woolly socks? I could think of worse things... :)

That's definitely the best kind of sister.

Oh what a cute couple! And are't sisters a wonderful thing. Lucky both of you.
We had snow this morning too, but our world is not one of whiteness, it is of mud....LOTS of mud.
Which movie? I have watched 3 award winners this last month, Get out (Hated it did not finish), I Tonya, boring as all get out, barely finished but was actually reading kindle for the last 45 minutes, and lastly Coco, which I did enjoy. That must say something about me. I am a Disney kid through and through. The Three Lives of Thomasina still remains a favorite.....LOVE the socks...
Oh speaking of hand knitted stuff, contact me...

Hi Susan :) Those colour are bright! Enjoy your sock knitting :) Your bundles of love are sweet, I love how they are velcroed together!!! :) Funny thing...since weekenders are here making loud noise and trouble all weekend, the weekends feel much longer for me than the weekdays! :)

I understand the exhaustion from humans. Nice sometimes, necessary sometimes, but exhausting!

I'd also like to know the name of the movie; there's too much rubbish out there to waste our time on.

Awesome sock colors!

Those are some brightly coloured stockings! Nice to have your sister, especially if she is willing to clean out a duck coop! -Jenn

Poison Candy, what a wonderful colour combination, someone's toes are going to be very happy wearing those socks. Your dogs look so silky and soft, which reminds me that my water-hating Lab is due for a bath and that's going to be fun!
I hope your batteries are fully recharged.

And I am lucky enough to have two of them!

We've had exciting periods of mud between the freezing and snowing. Ain't winter grand? The movie was Into the Forest. Totally predictable, poor acting (with the exception of the actor playing the younger sister - who valiantly tried to hold the movie together on her own), unsympathetic characters. We did liven things up by supplanting dialogue with our own... I am a diehard animation fan, and will stick to that.

It's the opposite here - I only have to put up with dump trucks and gravel pit noise on Saturday. They can't work Sunday! I feel for you - why is it that people escape to the country for peace and quiet and then make more racket than they do in the city?

I usually only talk to the dogs over the weekend, so having to keep up a running conversation can wear me to a frazzle.

Susan said...

I am definitely a fan of bright socks - if you're going to go to all the work to knit them, then show them off! The movie is Into the Forest.

I was amazed that she volunteered, but she is a trooper. I will let her off the hook for the chicken coop cleaning, however. It is going to be brutal...

Susan said...

I will have to wear them with my sandals! We are bracing for strong winds and more rain today and tomorrow, then snow on Friday. Can't wait.

I say cool!

Fiona!! Yes, I have quite a stash of brightly patterned and coloured sock yarn. I love knitting stripes, as I can keep track better and knit faster - since I am always talking myself into knitting 'just one more' round.

Isn't it? I am so hoping that I get this pair right and can keep them myself. You know, I have never heard of a water-hating Lab! We grew up with one and you couldn't keep her out of the water. Peanut is a joy to bathe, as he just stands and bears it. There is much trembling involved, however.
