Giving Thanks.

I am very thankful that I had five years to enjoy the sheep-ness of Flora.  She was the matriarch even then, the steady one, the patient one (with my bunglings).  She had beautiful lambs and I am thankful that I have Juno, her first born on this farm, and Linden, her grandson who inherited her sweet nature and beautiful fleece.  (I forgot to add how thankful I am for R's wonderful photographs...)

I am thankful that I have a job that supports me and all my dependents.  I am not quite as thankful for the long commute, but thankfully I only have to make the trip five days a week!

I am thankful that I live in a country that offers me so many freedoms - freedom to cast my vote.  Freedom to speak my mind (or write it).  Freedom to live where I want, move when I want, or to put signs in my front yard - even though someone feels equally free to be able to steal them...

I am thankful that I live in a place where I have enough room to grow my food and can have my furred and feathered friends that add so much to my life, my happiness and my well-being.

And I am always thankful for those Americans who have fought for and defended the freedoms I hold dear.  I cannot literally or figuratively thank them enough.

And I am thankful that I have some fine folks on the internet that remind me to be thankful for all I have. Thank YOU!

Darnitall about Flora. I'm sorry you had to make the decision that it was her time. I saw the post a couple of days ago, but had lost control of my blog feed.

I too have a lot to be thankful for, thanks for reminding me. I was driving around to garage sales last Saturday and was struck by a feeling of gratitude because, a lot of the time, I get to do exactly what I want with my free time. There's (more than) enough food on the table, my kid and I (heck, the dog too) are healthy, and we don't NEED anything. It's a good position to start from.

Thanks for the reminder to be thankful for all we have, even the little things!

We get so wrapped up in the daily hubbub that we don't stop and count our blessings. My daughter has pneumonia right now and this illness made me stop and think about how important and how special she is to me. I am going to slow down and savor each moment with every furry, feathered, and human in my life and really enjoy them. I think it's great to start your day with what your thankful for, makes you handle what comes at you a little better. Loved your post. Enjoy your weekend ☺

Sue - I swear we should just call each other in the morning, since we're the only ones up! And thank YOU.

Linda - Thanks. I do miss her. I guess we can also be thankful that we have so much freedom we can forget we have it!

Candy - Those little thing sure add up, don't they? Have a great weekend!

Kelly - I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter! I hope that she's well on her way to recovery; what a worry! It's good to slow down and look at all our blessings from time to time. Best to you and yours, too.

I am thankful for being laid off. I know that sound weird, but it turned into a blessing. Yes we don't have the money we had and things are a little tighter. But you can never replace the time lost with family.

Michelle - Isn't it interesting how something that you might first think of as a terrible event can turn into something so great? I'm sure your family is awfully happy to have you home!

I'm late jumping in here . . . but I, too, as others who have commented am so thankful for where we are and all we have. I'm also so, so thankful for you, dear Sweezie, and my other bloggy friends who know just what to say whether it be funny or educational or uplifting or just simply of the hand-holding kind of support. You've all filled a void in my life that is now chock full of happy!
