Christmas came a-knockin'!

It must be the season.  I am sooo slow in the morning getting to my chores; deaf to the penetrating bleats of Acacia; refusing to make eye contact with Scrappy.  I am *gasp * dawdling.  Yesterday morning I was wandering about after going more than a few rounds with my crossword puzzle - heading in the vague direction of the barn, when the dog alarm went off.  Someone was driving up my driveway.  Was it Santa in his sleigh?

No!  Even better - it was my favorite Christmas Elf, Kay, in her Honda!  She had decided that what I needed for Christmas was a practical gift.  Oh, how right she was/is!  Here is what she bestowed upon me yesterday morning:

A gluten-free girl's dream come true!
I happily abandoned the sheep pre-breakfast (with loud protests from Acacia and gang, and worried noises from Hoosier), to invite her in for a cup of coffee.  We managed a nice, but short, visit before I had to race around and make up for lost time before heading off to work.

Christmas also arrived at my door via the postman in a mysterious, flat, rectangular package:

I call it my "Christmas Snowman Hearth Shovel" decoration!

Is this not the cutest thing ever?
Tom - the very talented vermiculturist (aka Worm Farmer) over at worms-a-crawling farm had made it and sent it as a thank-you for some books on rabbits that I had mailed.  He did the woodworking and his neighbor did the painting.  It is adorable!

I am still feeling all warm and fuzzy.

I love Bob's Red Mill products.... what an awesome gift! And yes, that snowman shovel just may be the cutest decoration ever! :)

Have a great day.

:( I can't see the snowman decoration.

I haven't gotten any packages that I haven't ordered myself yet - the anticipation builds!

Mama Pea - Oh, I don't know. Whining does have it's rewards....

Candy - She is the best!

MF - I use a lot of their products. And I love what they stand for, too. I don't have many holiday decorations, but this is a keeper.

Jenyfer - Oh, no! Well, trust me, it's cute! Yes, I love surprise packages - even when I order them and then forget ;o)

What kinda cookies do you leave for Santa to get such nice gifts?

Susan said...

Jane - Well, they sure won't be gluten-free! He'd put coal in my stocking for sure!

Kay is a wonderful elf! Whoo Hoo!
The shovel is very cute. You must've
had cheese with that whine. Love it!

Susan, thanks for stopping by my farm journal.

The name of yours alone would catch me attention immediately!
Those last three letters are so appropriate. Oh, the things we undergo and do on the farm.

The gifts are wonderful.

I can't imagine driving that distance twice a day...even though my poor husband did it for several years before retiring to milk cows! I did it for a week once and told him I would quit before driving that far on a regular basis. But, we do what we have to do.

gld - Ditto, I'm sure! I envy your cows (or access to them - mine is down the road). You have hit the nail on the head - we do what we have to do. Since I am the only bread-and-hay winner on this farm, off I go. Most days, it's worth it. Winters are a little tough. Best of luck with your dear MIL.

Here's a gluten free product you might like - Crunchmaster Multi-Seed crackers. I bought them once to go with a cheese ball I'd made and they are totally addictive!!

Erin - I needed that holiday boost this year - it's been slow-going.

CR - I am blessed, I tell you.

Kristina - I just love that shovel. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Jaime - I am so glad to spread the holiday feeling - now that I am finally getting there myself.

Jenyfer - Thank you! Crackers are the one thing I miss as much as bread - I will check them out.

I really like rice crackers too, but I haven't looked at the packaging to see if they are gluten free...

Jenyfer - I ordered the crackers - can't wait until they arrived! Most rice crackers are gluten free, I believe.

Michelle - Yes, I am truly blessed with more than my share of friends.

Lori - Merry Christmas to you, too!
