I lied.

We didn't get a foot of snow.  We got over 24 inches of snow, from Wednesday afternoon, through this morning.

A cozy cap of snow

I have shoveled this path
2,000 times.  True.

My neighbor took pity on my
roof situation.

Front deck
After I shoveled before bed (I averaged once every hour and a half-to-two hours yesterday), I woke up to find between 6-8 inches of new snow.  It was enough to almost bring me to my knees.  BUT, since I seem to be channeling a 1930s prairie housewife, I stiffened my upper lip (which had begun to quiver), armed myself with my trusty shovel, and shoveled it all over again.  Followed by Miss Velcro.
I'm coming!

What do we do now?
The smart dogs were inside.
Wake me when it is actually spring.
I made it into the office today, thank goodness.  I was really getting a little stir-crazy.  Plus I needed a break from all that knitting.  We will, hopefully, have a bit of a break in the snow until Storm #4 (5?  6?  20?), which is due next Tuesday/Wednesday.  My boss is all in a flap because she is due in from Florida on Wednesday.  I have to say, I was not exactly a pillar of sympathy upon hearing the news.

I don't know how you're keeping all the animal pens open. And the paths to them. And their "yard" area. And then there's your basic sanity I'm worried about, too. I guess no one in your area will have to worry about a dry spring season. Good. Grief.

It is a real challenge. The poor ducks have a smaller and smaller tract, as I am running out of places to put the snow that I shovel. The chickens have basically given up going outside, although I have a small area cleared in case they can't take it. The sheep are even tired of it. With the rising snow and the lowering pine branches, it's like doing the Limbo every morning and evening. And I wasn't good at it at 20, let alone at middle age.

Your path looks like ours. It's always the same, all wide and manicured shoveling from December to February then it gets narrower and narrower as we get fed up. We got a dumping of snow too...I was happy that Alex shoveled the entire walk and driveway last night while I was sleeping! So happy I didn't have to participate! Your dogs are adorable! Hang in there, I think March is going out like a lion though...then we should be home-free! :)

C'mon up! Better yet, let me work on a way to beam it down there!! Winnie would LOVE this!

I had to laugh - yes, my paths get more and more narrow! Of course, it's harder to toss the snow out, when the height of the sides of the path are up to my head! I am afraid you are right. No lamb in our March that I can see.

Oh man that sucks! We're getting snow today too, a 2-3 " flurry.
You can always hum this to yourself:

That's all I got. Hugs, stay warm.

You know, there's a point where the snow goes from 'extra insulation' to 'wah! I want my mommy!' and you are so far past it.

I'm with the smart dogs! LOL. But good grief, two feet of snow?!? We've been having bitter winds but thankfully no snow. Today we almost got to 70! That was a treat.

Golly, that’s a lot. Beautiful puppy though.

That's a LOT of snow. Yikes. My door to open the chicken run is frozen to the ground. I can only open one door to let the sun shine in. This winter has surely been crazy, but crazier in your area.

Thank you for leaving a comment, on my blog!!!

I simply do not know how you do it! Even though you are a YOUNG 50 something. Of course, I am soon to be 81. So my outlook is very much different. ,-)

But if you are doing what you really want to be doing... :-)

Soooo, are you going to start watching the Women's Basketball Tournament tonight???? They really are "the best" to watch and root for.

'Tis the only sports we watch any more. No, we do watch The Mets. But the women basketball players, and The Mets, do not do 'kooky' things. They just play-the-game. ,-)))

Hope you don't get any more snow!!!!!!!!

But if you do.... Courage!!!!!!

Crazy!!! I think Lulu has bonded with you, who wouldn't, but it will be tough to let her go.

I love snow but this close to spring, I wouldn't want all that! We have daffodils poking up in our flower beds!

Susan said...

That definitely helped! xo

You are so right. There is nothing more frustrating than having only a large, cold, white inanimate object which to direct your wrath.

Susan said...

She does! I like to think I gave her a good boost towards a happy every after life.

Ooooh, 70! It's hard to believe we had a few days of just about 60 in February!

Love my puppies!

That's another peril of this weather - everything freezes shut.

Let's hope it arrives before I lose my mind.

I was thinking about the rock in the river - she tended to plunk down right in the middle of your path - but she was more of a boulder, LOL!

You are so sweet! I am now a YOUNG 60 something! Some days, not so young - especially after endless rounds of shoveling!

Susan said...

You hit the nail on the head, as usual. It was very tough to let her go.

Susan said...

That's cruel... :)

Hibernation seems a good option. That is an eye-popping amount of snow. I sincerely hope that you are not enduring yet more snow.

This makes me miss East Coast snowstorms. I now live in Alaska, where we get all of the snow (and then some) with none of the snow days.
