Spreading the wealth.

I finally sorted through all my seeds and found (oh, surprise - not) that I have tons of them!  I had signed on for Mike the Gardener's year of seeds and, while there were many that I would use, there were also many seeds for things I do not raise.  That got me thinking - as well as some prodding from Krazo Acres' seed swap idea - that I should put them out there and see if anyone would like them.  I've made a list that I put on a separate page.  As they are taken, I will remove them.  I hate to waste seeds and love the idea of sending them out there to flourish in other gardens!

Do you save your own seed? We try to save the best looking "Tomato", Pepper or Squash to use the following year, we feel if they do well in our area they are likely to have offspring that will do well and we hope to develop our own strains of some things that are acclimatized to our garden.

I would love to try growing turnips! I think you have my address; let me know if you don't.

Oh I am sure everyone will want seeds as I look out to the snow I think the ground will be waiting everywhere for them:0 Hug B

Geesh, someone could plant a whole garden with those seeds. So kind and generous of you to share. All of the seeds I dumped were old, old, old. Gotta admit I get a lot of mileage out of my "old" seeds but those I finally managed to let loose of were way beyond anything I should have still been saving.

I think you may become the star performer of goodwill on my blog. May I write about your seed give away? Thank you from the bottom of my heart for display my button. As I'm starting from scratch I would love some seeds. Llama poo would be good too but I expect sending it through the mail might be problematic.

Fiona - I do save some seeds - if they are heirloom and if they do well.

Michelle - The turnips are yours!

Buttons - I like to think that the ground is as anxious to see my seeds as I am to see the ground!

Mama Pea - I am the same. It takes Herculean effort to part with seeds - no matter how old they are.

Susan - Of course, we are welcome to write about it, although I think I am small potatoes (pardon the pun) when it comes to seed swapping! I am working on a way to dry my llama poo - which may make mailing it possible!
