Or is society having a mental collapse? A friend told me over the weekend that her granddaughter's school brought in grief counselors in order to help the middle school kids "deal" with leaving their teachers and moving to the next level. And this is in a school where BOTH middle and high school is housed, so it's not like they will never see their favorite teachers ever, ever again. Is this insane? Apparently, in dealing with their "grief" over this, all the girls got extremely emotional and were crying. I feel like going over to the school, taking the administrators, counselors and teachers, grabbing them by their ankles and shaking them upside down. Maybe some blood will make it to their brains! Another victory for homeschooling.
There. I feel better. Thank you for allowing me to rant....

Susan, I have something to say: Our society is having a mental collapse.
As my Grandmother would say "It sounds like these people need some real problems".
My dad used to say "Stop that crying before I give you something REAL to cry about!"
I have noticed our society is more sensitive on everything! Drama! I bet the kids are picking up on this. I am sure that money spent on councilors could be better used. Home school and internet school sounds mighty fine.
Mama Pea - Amen, sister.
Jane - My Great Aunt used to say that, too. And, yes, it appear they do.
APG - LOL - now he would be arrested for assault!
Nancy - Welcome! Yes, we are all so...special. I think the kids in our local school are a mess scholastically. But, heaven forbid, they must leave their special teacher. How will they cope?
I am stunned... don't even get ME started on the whole "everybody gets a trophy" thing... LOL
From Apple Pie Gal's dad to my mouth; another reason to homeschool AND live in the country without super-close neighbors! ;-)
I can't believe that. Our world is changing daily for the worse!
If the schools don't keep making more positions, how will they justify "needing" more taxpayer money? They could pay me a quarter of what the "grief" counselor gets, and I'd stand every kid up and say, "DEAL WITH IT".
We are breeding generation after generation of pitty-me pansy-kids.
Time to put your big girl panties on!
BTW, we ALLLLL love the rants! Besides, it lowers our blood pressure after we've ranted out :)
Ruth - It is so completely absurd it's almost funny - except it traumatizes our kids.
Carolyn Renee - I will have to remember "pitty-me-pansy-kids". That's a keeper! These kids will not be able to deal with ANYTHING by the time they graduate. Good grief - they're our future! Just shoot me know.
I went to my grand-son's graduation the other day--ya-I said grandson---so ridiculous the kids had fun but at the end we sat trough 15 min. of memories on tape--my god-I thought I was at a memorial. Also I heard on the news ,that there is a state that is trying to pass a law to where learning cursive will be out-lawed by just teaching keyboarding. I'M not sure all kids do cursive now!
Judy - All those graduations! It used to be so simple. You went to school all year, then had summer vacation, then went back to the next year up. No fuss, no muss.
Amen to everyone's comments. I am still dumbstruck by the fact that I have to attend my daughter's 8th grade graduation. (As in ceremony, banquet, you name it. ) Since when did making it through 8th grade qualify as significant?
Moving RIGHT along...you've got 4 more years kids...then perhaps we celebrate!
I messed up again-my point was that it was a kindergarten grad. That's what made it ridiculous.
Please tell me that this incident was not in a district where my tax dollars go.
Melanie - Kids have to be totally numb (not to mention their parents) by the time they actually graduate from something worthwhile!
Judy - We got it!
Sylvie - Afraid so.
