Let's Have an Apron Sew-Off!
Sounds funny, put that way, doesn't it? Mama Pea had a great idea. Great, I expect, if you are a sewer. If you are not, please bear with us. This is what I'm a'thinkin - the Kick-Off will be Monday, October 31 and we will aim for the week before Thanksgiving, say November 21. What better impetus than having a bright, shiny new apron to show off during Thanksgiving Dinner!
Do they have to be sewn? Nope. They can be sewn, knitted, crocheted, or duct-taped together - or feel free to take a ready-made apron and customize it. The sky's the limit! On November 21, we will all post pictures of our aprons and link to each other. Sound good? Any takers?

That's a great idea, I'm IN! We'll have to thank Mama Pea for the idea. Although now I'm a bit anxious that I have a DEADLINE to finish something....oh, the PRESSURE!!!! But really, I do need something like this to get my bum in gear.
Me, too! Me, too! I've got my roll of duct tape ready to go. (Will that be anything like wrapping yourself in Saran Wrap to meet your significant other at the door? Sure will hurt a lot more coming off than the Saran Wrap. Tee-hee.)
LOL, Mama Pea!
I fear duct tape might be all I can manage this year, but we'll see...
Carolyn Renee - The pressure is ON! I have three aprons in various stages of completion - or, rather, in various stages of beginning.
Mama Pea - Saran Wrap???? You vixen, you!
Jenyfer - Duct tape is one of the most important ingredients in homesteading - and it lasts forever!
Jenyfer, I though BAILING TWINE was the most important item on a homestead!
How about a duct tape and baling twine apron???? It could catch on....
Hmmm...don't sew, don't wear aprons. I am creative though....let me think on it.
Oh, Oh, Oh, I want to play along!! I've even got some fabric in mind!

Alrighty, then! If you are brave enough - those of you who have not yet ponied up - leave a comment commiting yourself (hehehe) and I will do a catch-up post about half-way through. This is not a test, however (HATE THEM) but just full-out fun!
This sounds like fun so count me in. Oh, did I just commit myself? I'm fresh out of baling twine but I just got a fresh load of straw, and I can crochet, hmmm....
Well Susan, you stole my duct tape/ twine idea;) But let me see if I can rustle up some other fabric (maybe spin some german Shephard fur?) and whip up an apron. Shall I point out I got a C in Home Ec?
Yay! Count me in! This will be such fun!!
Okay, everyone - somewhere mid-November, I will post for progress reports! I cannot wait to see what we all come up with!
oh great, I love to sew, I always host Thanksgiving at my home and here I sit in a nice new wrist cast for the next 4 weeks :(
duct tape may become my new best friend... it does come in colors now ya know....
TinaH
THIS IS SO AWESOME! I have my very first apron in the beginning stages, and this is great encouragement for me to get going on it. I hope it turns out to look somewhat like an apron... ;)
TinaH - Oh, no! That is going to make food prep awfully difficult! I know - duct tape isn't our grandfather's duct tape any longer! You could jazz up your cast!
Patty - The Universe was listening! Welcome aboard!!!
I'm going to say "count me in"! I already have the fabric, I just need the TIME, but you've given us a few weeks :)
Erin! You're back! Try not to show us up, will you??
I'll try. I have two baby quilts that I HAVE to finish soon, but if I can get them done, I'll work on an apron. Can't wait to see everyone's! :)
Ok, count me in... I need to make a new one so might as well be now... LOL!
Well, I've never made an apron before but this is a challenge that will keep me busy so I'm in. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
MamaPea, I am thinking that a saran wrap apron would be just the thing... ;)
