Monday Musings.

My favorite Fall tree, across the road.
Okay, it's really just a way to blog on Monday without having to tie all my untamed thoughts into a theme.  Wait.  Monday Musings IS a theme.  Never mind.  I was going to join in on "Wordless Wednesday", but I am never wordless.

When did "Old Fashioned" fall out of fashion, to be replaced by "Retro", or "Vintage", or "Antique"?  And when did Antique go from meaning 100+ years old, to "before 1940"?

Sneezing.  My cats sneeze, my dogs sneeze and, once in a while, a chicken sneezes.  I've even heard my sheep sneeze a time or two.  But, does it count as sneezing when one doesn't have a nose?  I mean, chickens don't really have a nose.  They have a nose/mouth combination.  Is that still sneezing?  I know that turtles yawn (although, apparently, tortoises do not find yawning contagious.  They just yawn when they mean it.  Really - there was a study done on it.)

Which brings me to -- who's bright idea was it to fund a study on whether tortoises are subject to contagious yawning?  Why should we care?  Do the tortoises care?  I would imagine they (the tortoises) found it highly annoying to have some scientist following their every move, their every facial expression (do they have those -- wait!  Let's not give 'them' any ideas for yet another study.)

Why am I still shocked to see that I am not 30 when I look in the mirror?  Will I ever get over it?  Should there be an in-depth study funded by Harvard to find out?

Oh, my inquiring mind....

******

A few things got checked off The Lists this weekend, although not enough to satisfy me.  I missed an opportunity to scavenge Melanie's apple trees - your voicemail message from yesterday JUST reached me at noon.  Where had it been?  Is there a voicemail purgatory?  Must be.

That is a beautiful tree. I can see why it is your favorite.

Mooberry Farmwife - And it's not even a good photograph! I was noticing this morning, when the sun was not quite all the way risen, that the tree positively glowed. I just love it.

talk about looking in the mirror and not seeing yourself-so what do I do ,I put up my graduation picture as my face book profile now thats the real me---lol--and a personal study done on our true feeling, because even tho I was feeling my age ,evidently not acting it-my brother -in-law informed me I should be preparing for heaven instead of buying out the gift shop of life-he said it won't FIT IN MY COFFIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Judy - I was going to say that you look awfully young in that picture, LOL! I'd tell you SIL to mind his own beeswax. I am going to be cremated, so I can fit anything I want in my urn, provided it is combustible.

That is so funny about sneezing and yawning. I'm sure that scientest are studying about other no brainer things.
I don't have voicemail, either a person can text me or call me.. I hate all the steps one has to go through just to get to their voice mail.
Lovely picture of a colorful fall tree. The colors this year are so vibrant..
Have a tiggeriffic day~! ta ta for now from Iowa:)

First of all Vintage and Antique are marketing terms. Vintage clothing is hot now, but the 'old crap in Grandmas attic' just doesnt have the same appeal . And how old is something that is a relic? And damn it, why am I not 30 anymore either?!

I love Monday Musings, LOL! And I'm never wordless, either, so that doesn't work :)

Tiggeriffic - Sometimes I think I'd like to chuck it all out on the front lawn. But I don't.

Jane - I prefer "the old crap in Grandma's attic" myself. But that's probably because I think it will be sold cheap. And I am as cheap as they get. WHAT? You're not 30? Those ankles I keep seeing pictures of sure look like 30-y/o ankles..hehehe.

Erin - Yes, we do muse-away, don't we? It's better than talking to my dogs. Or myself!

Before 1940? I've been seeing things from the 1970s in antique malls lately!!!

Susan said...

Jenyfer - Hold it right there, you young whippersnappers! I take umbrage with the 70s being an antique era!

Oh girl, I think your Monday Musings and my Sunday Scribbles are sisters. :) Your reason for posting random thoughts on Monday is exactly why I started writing scribbles on Sunday! I LOVE THIS post! The tree is great. But the post is better. ;)

You can just keep on doing your Monday Musings every day of the week as far as I'm concerned. Loved them! Oh, and the tree, too.

Your "sneezing" rant, I mean, thoughts of the moment about how do chickens sneeze without noses had me thinking, and yes, I'm going to be brash.....how many animals pass gas and make "fart" noises? How CAN they when they don't have cheeks (not on their faces-kinda-cheeks)? I've heard every one of my farm & domestic animals toot.

I'll leave now. :)

Carolyn - I am almost speechless. I can vouch for Scrappy's fartiness, though. Especially if he gets one too many rawhide chews. Don't go far...;o)

Very nice musings. I relate to the mirror one. I'm by no means a vain person, but how the HECK did I get to this age?
