Any Color But White.

ANY color.  But, is white a color?  Is it the lack of color?  Is it the color of your soul when all hope of spring is GONE??  As I groped my way to the sliding glass door this morning to let the dogs out ....it was white.  Completely, utterly, totally, miserably.  White.  Sigh.  It made me feel like (mis)quoting Edgar Allan Poe all day:  When shall Spring cometh?  Quoth the Raven: Nevermore.

Juno sat outside in stunned silence:

That large, dark blob is Juno in her stunned state.

So I decided to concentrate on any color other than white:

Two Potato Scallop - pure yumminess.
Ribbon salad in Easter Colors.
This year's Easter Eggs
Eggs for my niece and her son.

Unfortunately, my niece and grand-nephew did not make it to Vermont for Easter.  He had a bad cold and we couldn't chance spreading germs to the nonagenarians.  We were all disappointed, but we had fixed up an amazing basket for the little squirt, which his grandmother was dropping off on her way back.  That left four of us with an amazing amount of food.  Which we bravely dealt with.  Although I am not a consumer of Jello as a rule, I had decided to make the ribbon salad for Cyrus because it was pretty and all kids like Jello, right?   The two potato scallop turned out great, having been adult-icized with chopped fresh herbs and garlic-infused cream.  Goodgollymissmolly. My sister brought ham and we had two appetizers.  Since we ate in the middle of the day and I am NOT used to that much food that early (or at any time), I could barely move after dinner/supper.  I convinced my sister that a walk was in order, and that really helped get the blood flowing in other places than our stomachs.  It was a lovely day.

(This morning was also the first time in a long time - years - that I was anxious to get to work.  Because I knew that, once over the mountain, there would be no white.)

Ooops. You certainly are getting everyone else's share of spring snow. So sorry to hear it's still falling on you. (Try to keep thinking of it as poor man's fertilizer for the coming growing months.)

Gosh, what colorful food you created over Easter Weekend! Much prettier than anything at our house. We're still eating leftovers, though, so that's a good thing in my book. A lot less food prep time in the kitchen for the cook for a couple of days.

Hang in there. Spring will come. (Mother Nature has promised!)

Garlic infused creamy potato herb casserole??? OMG, I want to lick the screen!

Sorry 'bout the snow. It will be green.

One day.

Mama Pea - Really. It looks as though I'll have to move NORTH to get away from this endless snow. How upsie-daisy is that? I was very willing to tote home leftovers. I live on leftovers for most of the week!

Carolyn - Oh, and let's not forget the butter, grated cheese and heavy cream! Why not? We're all going to freeze to death and die. Kidding. Can you tell I'm finished with cold weather?

Susan,

Just keep thinking green and soon it will be heading your way.
Right now were dealing with 38 degrees and 100 percent rain, upper Oklahoma has snow.

Sorry to hear about your nephen not feeling well. I bet he will be so excited to see the basket you made up for him.

I'm with Carolyn, I could lick the computer screen. Your creamy potato herb casserole sounds and looks amazing. In fact, I hear it calling my name, lol....

I wish the we could turn on the weather like a switch or a faucet. We have only have had less than 6" of rain TOTAL since last July, snow pack in the Sierra's is a little over 50% of normal. Already have several record high days in the mid 80's and pastures have turned to brown foxtails already. I'm not one that likes cold by all that snow is good for you ground water. Hang in there you will see color soon.

Don't give up. Spring has to wake up sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.

Sandy - I have everything crossed that can be. I know that spring is on its way - I am just anxious to get out there and dig in the dirt!

TL - That would sure be handy. I have to keep reminding myself that all this snow is spring and summer's water source and quit griping. You have had your share of hard weather out there - I would gladly send this moisture your way, if I could.

Michelle - I could eat sweet potatoes every day! Let me know how your 'healthy' version turns out.

Nancy - Ha, ha, yourself, smarty-pants! :) I will try to remember how nice and "cool" it is when we're in the 90s with 99% humidity!

Linda - I was glad to see that you got some precipitation out there. I am just worried that we will go from winter to summer and I will have to scramble! I know - it's not Easter without ham!

Michelle - It's looking more promising by the weekend, so let's hope Spring is fully awak by Sunday!

Jeez, you are having the winter that will not end while we have been almost 10 degrees above normal for a week! :(
The two-potato thingy sounds scrumptious!
