How odd.

I was thinking today (ouch) how amazing and odd it is that so many of us have developed rather close friendships and ties with people we have never seen.  I have my list of bloggers whose blogs I read every day (or whenever they post) without fail.  I laugh with them, cry with them, and send them virtual hugs.  When I first worked for a real business - I count that as when I could no longer wear jeans to work - I would have to answer the phone and direct callers to the different departments.  It was a mind-numbing, thankless, boring job.  But I got through it by trying to picture each caller by the sound of their voice.  Now, with the Internet, I try to picture each blogger by the sound of her/his writing.

I am loathe to have my picture taken.  I have not been photogenic since I was in my 20s, and even then it was sketchy.  So, I am usually the one on the business side of the camera.  However, since I have never been one to turn down a dare, here is a picture of me.  Granted, it's not great -- and rather fuzzy.  It was taken last year by ... me (notice the floating camera).  You cannot see the grey in my hair, but it's there, all right.  And I have earned every strand.

I too, hate having my picture taken - I like to believe that I'm just not photogenic but always have that nagging feeling of "do I really look that way" when not on camera? LOL! So glad you shared a photo, I try to do it a few times a year whether I like it or not, I will say that yours is good:)

I cannot tell you H-O-W glad I am that you did this!!!!! It's bugged me no end (okay, well that's a little harsh) that I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE! I, too, love to envision my friends (YOU!) when they post . . . and that's so hard to do when I don't know what they look like! So, CHEERS to you for doing this: I was actually trying to hatch out some scheme to get you to at least send ME a picture! Yayyyyyy! You've been reading my mind! :) xo

Erin, yes, I have that same nagging feeling. Of course, I am still shocked when I realize I no longer look 23!

Chicken Mama - I am soooooo glad I made your day ;o)

Hooray for you for being so brave! Now I want a picture that isn't so blurry. (Some people are NEVER satisfied!) Different hair style now? In the picture "Our Wee Farm" posted of you and Alice in the barn, you had bangs and a long pony tail (but no face). Ya just can't go completely changing hair styles on us and expect us to still recognize you!

I'm fortunate to have a bathroom mirror (where I do all my primping) where the lighting is very flattering and most days I think I look passable. Then I see a picture of myself or catch a glimpse of my moosh in another mirror (no doubt more realistic) and I wanna sign up for cosmetic surgery.

you gals are fantastic.if not a little hay in your hair jk- i wish it where in mine,no kidding and i hope to get to know all of you or a few of you anyway.most of you have your own blogs [ that i love reading[ they read like novels that i can't put down or wait to see the next entry. very addictive. i don't do blogs right now,its all i can handle to answer the invisible button magnet on the fridge that says "please ring for service" and if she does not answer "DO IT YOUR SELF' NOW MY 6 YEAR OLD GRANDSON WANTS SOME COMPUTER TIME. GOOD NIGHT ALL

Mama Pea - Nope - never a pony tail - I inherited all the fine, thin hair genes. Hard to tell when I'm in barn garb! Hair is slightly longer - I will try and get one of my more camera-savvy friends to take a new pick. I'm much taller in person...LOL!

Judy - So, does any one 'do it themselves' if you don't answer the bell? I think not -- It's that old, but you do it soooo much better routine. And, yes, there is usually hay in my hair, pockets, shoes....

Don't feel bad. I'm much taller in person, too. At least I will be when I grow those three more inches in leg length. That will make me closer to my ideal weight also. Being 5'6" instead of 5'3" allows you to carry more weight and still look good. (No, I haven't started drinking tonight yet, but that's a darn good idea. Thanks.)

My grandson is the ONLY person I've ever come across that LOVES to have his picture taken....he's a true "ham".

I think we judge ourselves too harshly. Every time I try to take someones picture, they cringe and say "not now, I look a mess!". Well, I don't care if they're dressed in barn clothes or full of dirt from the garden........I love these people and want the memories of them.
(Of course, this doesn't apply to ME--I can't have my picture taken now--I'm a mess!!)
:D

I DID NOT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE. SORRY IF I DID,I ONLY MEANT I WISHED THE SHOE WAS ON THE OTHER FOOT,BUT I GUESS WE ALL"SOW OUR OATS" IN OUR OWN WAY. THE MAID BUTTON GETS ANSWERED IF YOUR UNDER 10 YOU ARE UNDER 10 LIKE KATELYNN,BUDDY,DEVIN AND ANTHONY,BUT RICHIE,PAT,DAN,JOHN,NICK CAN HELP THE MAID. GRAMPA IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY. I JUST HOPE WHEN I BRING HIM TO THE VA hospital they don't want to keep him. that place gives me the heebie jeebies. i keep seeing ghosts of old soldiers walking around or soon to be.I GUESS MY LIFE IS SO DIFFERENT FROM MOST OF YOU,THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS IT GIVES ME SO MUCH JOY

Believe me, this picture makes you look way older than you actually look -- although it highlights your lovely face.

Judy, don't worry: I don't think you offended anyone here! :)

And, Susan? SORRY, but Sylvie called you out: a new picture is REQUIRED! ;)

My lady, there is no reason for you to fear that camera! And WOOHOO! We can now place the face with the woman we have grown to love! Your bravery is admired and appreciated!

I'm trying to post again - let's see if it works.
Judy, there is no way you offended us. Next time that button goes off, just put your fingers in your ears and repeat after me: "lalalalalal".

Chicken Mama - Sylvia is biased in my favor. Ignore her....(Sylvie, did you get that $20 I mailed?) LOL!

APG - Well, it's easy for you to say, you cutie you.
