The Wolf was at the Door!

And I let it in!  What excitement there was in the Susan house last night!  There were also many signs of excited-ness inflicted on furniture and dog beds - a sure sign the UPS guy had been on the front deck.  My birthday present came early!  We all did our version of the Happy Dance.

I can.not.wait to use it!  Okay, I can wait -- I would rather not have snowfall that would warrant the use of my new power-tool.  Given the many miles I shoveled last winter, I am so looking forward to the non-back-breaking ease of this gadget.  I LOVE MY FAMILY!!

So, other than making headway on my run-in shed (even after falling off my ladder and NOT killing myself), getting the water set up for winter in the sheep run, introducing the non-laying chickens to their new waterer (always good for a few histrionics) and spending a very long day toting octo/nono-generians to brunch, not much has been going on.  Tomorrow I have to drive an hour and a half each way to fetch my nephew from the train.  And, of course, the forecast is for rain, sleet and snow during the time I'm on the road with the rest of the lunatics driving hither and yon for the holiday.  I picked up new windshield winter blades, just in case.  My snow tires are on.  I'll do chores before I leave, just in case we're delayed.  I'm prepping dinner prior to take-off, too.

Tonight I have to finish my gate and bake a pie for the local library fund raiser.  I think the 20# turkey is thawed, but I have one more day to be sure - then in he goes for an overnight brining tomorrow.  I am providing the turkey, dessert and appetizer for Thanksgiving.  It's a good thing I am up before the rooster in the morning.  And, no, I am not wearing my Tin-Man apron for Thanksgiving.  I may frame it, though.

Oh, Susan! My laid-back Thanksgiving this year sounds like heaven compared to what you're doing. I think I need to lie down now after reading this post. You are Wonder Woman, a veritable super-human, all-round good person and my idol. My (Pilgrim) hat is off to you.

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving, dear lady!

P.S. You will have plenty of time to play with your Snow Wolf so let's not be wishing for those boat loads of snow to fall on you too soon. I'm sure by winter's end, you and Da Wolf will be great buddies. :o}

Well now you did it. No snow will fall in the winter of 2011-12. I have seen it happen before. Once my father gave us a snow blower for Christmas and it never snowed more than an inch at a time that winter. Of course it may go the other way and never stop snowing;)

That looks AWESOME - I'm off to google that. I bought a shovel with a curved handle like a lawn mower, so you can just push the shovel in front of you, but surely there will be a situation in which I will need to fling some snow and I'd rather not throw my back out with it!

Mama Pea - I want YOUR Thanksgiving! It will be fun, even with all the driving. Yes, I am so torn - I want to use my Snow Wolf, but I don't want it to snow. Conflicted? A little.

Jane - From your lips to God's ear on the no-snow business. The caterpillars are saying something different, however. I always prepare for the worst!

Dr Momi - I hope you have a wonderful Holiday!

Jenyfer - This thing is amazing! I will give it a dry run (so to speak) and let you know how I rate it. Bet you didn't shovel a lot of snow in Cairo!

Judy - Brining turkey makes it incredibly moist. Just Google it -- it's basically putting your turkey in a large plastic bag with water, salt, and sugar for 12+ hours. You drain it, pat it dry and roast it. Yum!

I swear, you must be on some sort of constant caffeine drip!

Hope you like your new snow-thingie.....but also hope that you don't have to use it TOO much!

I have to admit, I was really hoping to see a picture of you serving up that turkey adorning your duct-tape-apron!

CR - Seems like it, doesn't it? I am just not happy if every second of my waking hours is filled. It's a sickness. You are just wanting revenge for me causing you so much apron-angst. I may take it up to VT just to give them the willies.
