Falling for Fall.

On my daily commute into the city, I drive along a very windy road at the top of a plateau.  There a a lot of little dots of lakes along the route, surrounded by summer cabins.  This is a particularly pretty spot.  As I was driving up the mountain a couple of days ago, it seemed as if the leaves just went neon.  The reds, oranges and golds were almost blindingly bright.  I managed to find a safe-ish place to pull over and took the snap above.  Then I just stood there, and listened.  There are no gravel pits up there, very few cars.  There was nothing but rustling leaves and bird song.  It was totally, completely, beautiful.  I love Fall.

Now THAT is fall color. I fear we missed our peak color here with all the winds we had for a few days. It was INSANE, and now I missed all those photo ops with the really good color. But I'm thankful to see this one you posted. Nice work!

That is beautiful beyond words! We don't have many "good" fall trees, no maples & such so our colors are NOwhere near as pretty. I do miss the North because of Fall colors.

MamaTea - The peak comes so fast that sometimes I miss it. And you're right - rain or ill-timed wind will take care of that.

Carolyn - There are loads of maples up here (or down here - or over here). Some are so brilliant that they make you gasp. I must drive by 30 or 40 of them.

Judy - Yes, in the Fall it is just like Heaven. Then winter comes and doesn't leave for months. That's like the other place.

Candy - You are so welcome! I think your vistas are spectacular, too!

I do love the looks of fall too. Our trees are not very vibrant this year and have mostly just dumped the leaves without changing. My Dad used to say what made the leaves the most colorful but I cant remember if it was a dry year or wet year. What ever it was, must not have been this year. So I will admire your light show instead.

Wow, how fortunate you are to have part of your daily commute that looks like that! What is it about autumn that stirs the soul? It obviously has a lot to do with the stimulation of the beautiful colors. Almost like looking at stationary fireworks.

Wow! Our colors here are not that bright! I had to put my shades on to view your pic ;-) I love it! Sorry I used so many of these !!!!! I couldn't help it!

Jane - A lot of our leaves turned brown and fell off early. I think it was too much water. It happened really early, too.

Mama Pea - Isn't it nice? Almost makes the trip worthwhile. Almost. Some of those trees are incredibly bright - even on their own, without sunshine.

Nancy - I know!!! It's beautiful!!!! ;o)

Our color is gone, so being able to get another "dose" from you is nice. Beautiful photo!
