She's Alive! She's Alive!

Just popping in to let you all know that I came through the hip replacement with flying colors.  The only side effect seems to be cotton in the brain.  I was able to hold onto my outpatient status - in at 5:45A and home by 4P.  I had excellent care and can't say enough good things about the surgeon, staff or facilities.  They proclaimed me their star outpatient case, which puffed me up no end.

I was walking and able to go up one step about two hours after coming to.  I can only complain about one thing.  My sister cooks too well.  And she is too compassionate and thoughtful.  Boohoo, poor me.  The night before surgery, she made squash tumeric ginger soup and mushroom cheese risotto.  When I got home, she had made a chicken tangine with rice.  Yesterday, she made roasted duck with orange balsamic sauce, mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli.  And a cranberry pie.  Today is salmon with pea shoot salad.  I don't think I can stand it, but I'm going to try.  She has also vacuumed the house, cleaned all the kitchen countertops, cleaned the Cat Cave, and and is contemplating the inside of oven door.

I'm being handed off to my second sister on Sunday, who will continue the queen treatment for yet another week.  How will I be able to survive on my own after all this wonderfulness?

You're truly blessed to have such wonderfully talented loving sisters. Sit back and enjoy it buttercup as "reality" will soon rear its ugly head. Take care.

Oh good grief like you need to be told you were the star patient. Did you tell him you knew that when you walked in the door and made the appointment?

Glad to hear everything went well and that you’re out clicking your heels together already. Can I borrow your sister I’m gonna get in trouble for that remark I sister read your blog. And she doesn’t make a very very good navy bean ham soup and she makes some other very very good thing so I’ve just redeemed myself.

I expect to see a lot of knitted products by the time you’re 100% so get busy. And no snow shoveling.

Glad to hear your operation went so well and that you're being spoiled and coddled at home! Enjoy all that delicious food! The "cotton brain" may just be lingering effects of the anaesthetic and will pass in time.

I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well. Now to hope that the recovery continues apace. You're so fortunate to have sisters nearby who can and will step up.

One word: malinger. Desperate times call for desperate measures. You can just seek out a man who has had a cold for useful tips.

What great news! You were so ready, ready, ready for getting a new hip that I just knew you'd sail through the surgery and blow that popsicle stand (hospital) in record time. One more week of pampering (I might have actually cried a little reading of the meals you sister is making you eat) and it will be time to dust off the ice skates and get back to your quick-as-lightning speed of life!! Good goin', girl!

Yay! So happy for you! If I get a hip replacement, will your sister come and cook for me, too? (You know, after you're all healed up and everything).-Jenn

You were born into a family of caregivers. Don't complain.

Thanks for checking in and letting your adoring fans know how you are doing!!! If gourmet food promotes healing, you'll be back as boss farm hand in record time. I'd be afraid none of my clothes would fit after sisters like that!

just curcious how you're managing on your own. Are you getting the wicked weather we're getting down here?

Prove to us that you are actually STILL ALIVE!!!
Perhaps you are on your own now ... if so, taking it slow and easy may be the cause of your absence from your blog! Otherwise, I fear your sisters have buried you in the backyard!!
Anyway ... hope you are healing nice and, actually, doing super swell!!
