Fickle Farch

Say that fast, five times.  I promise that this is the LAST reference to Farch I will make.  This year.  I plan to heavily medicate myself so that I can float on to April without a backwards glance.

On the plus side, the temps are going up into the low 40s today, with some puny sun.  That should take care of some of the snow.  I have been going around, picking up various bits of flotsam that were blown through the yard by the last bit of weather 'change' - meaning the gale force winds that seem to be the new normal every time the weather changes.  Of course, the trash guy never made it to pick up the trash (I am back to transporting my own at the end of this month - recycling be damned), so my recycling bin was blown over.  I am sure you can imagine the rest.  The bottom of my deck rail bird feeder also disappeared - it may be in the next county.  It has been a punishing winter.

At an earlier date (obvious from the lack of ice-crusted snow) I managed to get a picture of "my" male Cardinal with one of the many Juncos that visit the feeder.  Thanks to the dagnabbit squirrels, I will have to rebuild most of the feeder, as they gnawed the side rails.  Bloody vermin.  I am trying to use my new camera more often, but - since it has snowed almost every single day - I don't dare take it outside.  Once we get a break in the weather - and if that break happens when I am home and not in my office, watching it sadly from the inside out - I will inundate you with pictures!  I will.  You'll beg for mercy.

*A little disclaimer - the Seeds of the Month thingy on the side is, indeed, an ad.  Of sorts.  However, I am a member because I LOVE the idea of it and, if you click on that button and end up joining, it will benefit me.  Just wanted to be upfront and honest with y'all.

I didn't even notice the Seeds of the Month thingy, the picture isn't on there, just the wording. But I clicked on it and it does sound like a great deal! If it weren't for the fact that I have a, for lack of better verbage, crapload of seeds, I'd look into it. Or I may anyhow. Because, really, can one have too many seeds?

Isn't it funny how things appear so differently from computer to computer! Yes - I am for anything that gets seeds (non-GMO) into the hands of more people. Gardening is Power! And frustrating, but they don't have to know that. And, no. You cannot have too many seeds - or too much chocolate.

Your snowy scene looks very pretty. Your temp must have been on the warmish side for the snow to stick to all the branches. I guess the good thing about March snow is that it doesn't seem to stick around too long. But even in the melting it's good for the soil.

Off to check out your Seeds of the Month thingy. (I just get the wording - no picture - also.)

Mama Pea - It is pretty, and I love to walk down my road with the dogs early in the morning - before the truck traffic hits the road. And I can't really complain about the above-freezing days, followed by below-freezing nights. I rely on my neighbor's maple syrup to get me through the summer! Just words? Hmmm. Well, I guess if it connects you, that's all that matters.

Pretty photo, I hope this next storm moving in doesn't disrupt your homestead too much, April is welcome any time!

Who knows what's going to happen - so far, the forecast is for anything from rain to 6" of snow! I believe that's referred to as CYA.

Your little cardinal is beautiful, or I guess that would be handsome! I hear ya' on the wind. Every time there's the least little weather change coming, we get howling winds and it makes me cranky. :(

Great shot of the cardinal, yes, more pictures!
