If you guessed that the dog bed was not in its usual place, then BINGO, you're correct! It has been used as transport for a week. No sooner did I go on and on about the noodle, he came up lame one morning. The biggest problem with Peanut is that there is so much drama, it is hard to figure out what is hurting and how much. I had to carry the sack of potatoes to the car (in the above bed so as not to distress him) and then a very nice vet tech toted him into the clinic. The good news is that it was less (by a whisker or two) than $500 to find out that they did not know for sure what had happened to his back left little ham. I've been dosing him with two pain killers and an antibiotic for a week, not to mention serving breakfast and dinner in bed. While he can now get around pretty well, he still cannot bear his weight on the leg.
Upon hearing that room service was over, there was a dramatic collapse. |
You can't make this stuff up.

While I was typing you a long, depressing email, you were creating a new post! Poor Peanut. A leg, not his back? How un-Dachshund-like!
oh god i hope he didn't tear his acl!!! i have been sitting here all day trying to decide if surgery is truly the way to go and i am 90% sure that it is but that other 10% is driving me crazy. it kills me that after laying in the house in the a/c for 5 straight months that now that good weather is on the way, he will have to lay in the house. ugh! not to mention that surgery is 7 grand!
Peanut just wants his turn! He saw how much fun you had with your hip replacements, I guess.
I bought an eggplant last week. whatever possessed me. I love eggplant parmesan but need to find another less labor intensive recipe. it's a race to see what happens first...new recipe or eggplant in the compost pile.
Oh I’m beyond giddy I’m just downright shameless get it on crazy and sweaters and stuff. Never in which goes over 70° at the most until winter and then I can go to well below that thank you thank you thank you. Sorry to hear about the butter boy children you just never know with them you know how that goes?
Feel free to send your two day rains West go West young woman go west please. I’m hoping to do a post by the end of the weekend I know everybody’s going skeptically yeah sure right a-ha she will a-ha. But my intentions are honorable and then that I would include news all that’s fit to be told at all that’s a good and wonderful. Hope he continues to recover whether he wants to or not and life gets back to normal whatever the heck that is.
Did I mention good looking eggplant how about hubbahubba !
Great picture of Vermont mountains---and clouds.
Sweater time is coming along, that's for sure.
Sorry to hear about the gammy leg. The poor little dear does look long suffering! How about you? Still healing well? -Jenn
I was eyeing my wood stove on the last rainy day. I resisted because it would have been too warm, but so tempted.
Poor Peanut. Gosh. I too am looking forward to cooler weather and snuggling indoors.
Sending whining hugs to the handsome butter! Looking forward to cooler weather, but not looking forward to closing the garden aka our living grocery store! How is your healing doing? Get a great week!
Sorry to hear little Butter Boy seems to be hurting again. :o( Hope recover is quick . . . for his sake and yours. ;o)
Autumn is THE BEST TIME OF YEAR! Got any ideas as to how we could make it last much longer than it does?
All poor doggy and what a Pampered life he leads! I don't know if this is an option and it would certainly be cheaper, we did acupuncture on our dog and it helped tremendously! There are usually some places that have that but I'm not sure about your area. It's a really really great for inflammation and helps relax the animals. Since they don't have a belief system about whether it works or not they have a untainted reaction. Might be worth looking into to see if it could help him heal up faster or at least be more comfortable. Definitely looks like fall there with those storm clouds! We've had a few minor rainstorms but still waiting for a big Autumn downpour for a few days, living in the high desert we love those!
OH. Poor baby! I hate it when a fur baby is hurting.
Poor Peanut. I am full of sympathy but have to ask if Mr. PB provided the same service when you were recovering? I have had an opportunity to observe a dachshund recently. OMG they are so hugely adorable and convey so much with their sweet little faces and deep, dark eyes. I'm in love.
Oh, Peanut is so cute! I never had a dachshund until Annie (found her by the side of the road....I'm sure it was a setup!) There was a joke on Pinterest one time with a picture of a Dachshund with this scared look on its face and the caption said "OMG, I'm so glad you're home...someone pooped in the hallway!!!" I laughed so hard because that was Annie...if it was cold she didn't want to go out, if it was raining she didn't want to go out. Poor Peanut. I'm so glad he? is going to be okay. I miss my girls still so much but I just can't have any more animals. Plus, we don't even have a vet around here anymore. The closest vet is now over an hour away. Crazy town down here!
I bet Vermont is gorgeous! Thanks for the pictures especially Peanut! DOn't you have another dog? It looked like it was part Rottweiller...funny because we had the same type of dogs.....kindred spirits! Happy Fall!
Awww, poor puppy! Ours is a bit of a drama queen too.
I love sweater weather!! :) Poor little Peanut...I'm sure he'd love permanent room service though, who wouldn't? Nice photo of the clouds!! :)
Oh my goodness...your dog is a hoot.
And we're having our first hard freeze here!
