I do not own my life.

This thought flashed through my mind early Sunday morning.  I was getting ready to head out to the local twice-a-year poultry and small animal sale to look for guinea keets.  Since it was in the low 20s and since the sale is held in a soccer field, down a bumpy dirt road, I thought I would wear my hiking boots instead of my clogs.  That's what I thought, anyway.  I was standing in the doorway of my closet holding a boot in one hand and the bootlace in the other.  I had forgotten that Scrappy had - in a fit of something - peed in my boot-holder and saturated my bootlaces.  I had pulled it out and washed it.  Then the cats had chewed off the ends, which left a mass of white filaments.  I could not relace my boot.  I could not wear my boot.  The animals have taken over.  Luckily, I managed to find my Doc Martens and was able to go out at the crap of dawn, drive a half hour with Kay in order to shuffle around in the cold and not find any guinea keets.  My life is like that.

Your life may not be your own . . . but you gotta admit it's interesting!

Why would you want to "own" your life? It would be dull and boring, semi-chaos is much more interesting. What would you have blogged about ???? how interesting is it that you just put on a pair of boots, instead of telling us why you had to select a different pair of shoes, LOL.

I don't know if I should laugh with you or cry with you.....because either would be admitting that I don't own my life either! :)
Ah, the wonders of being owned by animals!

Ok I have a hen sitting now. Twenty-some days from now, you make a trip to western PA and keets will be yours! Of course I will have to run this by the dogs, birds, and horses. You know, to see if I am 'allowed' ;)

Mama Pea - True, true. My life is anything but boring.

TL - LOL! That is definitely a better way of looking at it.

CR - Yes, no matter how hard we try to bamboozle ourselves into thinking that WE are in charge, it's a pathetic lie.

Jane - Oh, geez, would that be wonderful! Let me know what the homestead critters say...

too funny! I have footwear issues myself. The boss' wife insists everyone leave their shoes at the front door. I don't know how many times I have come home barefoot because I forgot them, and then spend a week trying to find my shoes!

Ha! I agree with TL!! Think how boring our lives would be if we weren't "owned" by our critters!!

Sometimes you just have to roll with it, it seems...

Petey - I hope they keep your shoes for you! That could be an expensive habit...but I bet you remember in the winter!

Nancy - They are an interesting group of characters.

Candy - Very true, although sometimes "boring" sounds very, very nice.

Linda - If not, they will roll right over you. Better to take a few (dozen) deep breaths and buy a new pair of bootlaces.

LOL this made me laugh because I made hubby get rid of his DrMartens years ago, they made me crazy, along with the studded punk rocker belt.... :)
